20 successes or 19 failures? Weight loss tactics
We like to think we’re pretty well known for our successes (and weight loss tactics) at RISE.
The hundreds of progress pictures that adorn our walls and Facebook page seem to attest to that.
Huge, life changing transformations.
The sort that inspire continued success in those that have made the changes and in others to get started (check myrise.co.uk/challenge for the next step if September is a good, or at least better, time for you to get started).
But…………
(or “Butter” as Phoebe might expect)……….
We know that there’s a downside to this.
We know that a big goal can be both inspiring………..
And intimidating.
We know that the target can sometimes seem so far away we get discouraged from trying.
And that focusing on that alone isn’t the best approach.
When we only have a goal of losing 20lbs………..
We have to ‘fail’ to achieve it a lot of times before we get there.
If we wake up every day and ask ourselves “Have I lost 20lbs?”………..
Then we’ll have to go through a lot of “No”s before we get to that “Yes”.
And all those perceived failures can be off putting.
Every pound lost along the way is a failure if we only have the end goal of 20 in mind.
And we can feel that we “can’t” hit that final goal.
However, if I said “Can you lose a pound”, then what would your answer be?
“Yes” probably.
Anyone can lose a pound, surely?
So, go do that.
Have a success in only a handful or so of days.
Then lose the next one.
And so on.
20 successes along the way.
Leading to that bigger, longer term, more inspiring goal.
Whether weight loss or anything else, it’s great to have a big, challenging, inspiring goal to work towards.
But have little goals along the way you know you can hit.
Hit enough of them and you’ll get there.
Plan for 20 successes.
Rather than 19 failures 🙂
