You may have recently seen in the news that singer songwriter Ed Sheeran successfully defended himself in a High Court plagiarism case.
Artist Sami Switch claimed that Sheeran’s 2017 hit “Shape of You” copied elements of his 2015 song “Oh Why”.
Having being cleared, Sheeran commented that “coincidences were bound to happen”………
In an industry where 22 million songs were released each year, and only 12 notes were available to songwriters.
Which struck me.
Every bit of music you’ve ever heard of is made up of 12 notes.
In different orders and on different instruments, sure.
But just 12 notes.
Combined together in near infinite ways.
Which we can do the same with our food.
People often lament to me that they find “healthy eating boring”.
Usually because the version of “healthy eating” that they’ve got in mind is very limited.
A small number of meals served in fairly plain ways.
Salads.
Plain chicken and broccoli.
That kinda stuff.
In reality The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in America maintains a list of over 3,000 ingredients in its database.
If we can make 22 million songs per year from 12 notes, imagine how many meals we could we could make from all of them.
Imagine how easy it could be to eat in a way that was fun, enjoyable, varied and easy to maintain (check www.myrise.co.uk/apply if you like the sound of that)…………..
If we just expanded our definition of what “healthy eating” looked like.
Much love,
Jon ‘Thinking Out Loud’ Hall
