Every month we put our new success stories on the olde t’interweb.
And every month it’s interesting to see the comments these attract from the each person’s friends and family.
One thing we see a lot is comments like:
“Brilliant work. I wish I had your willpower!”
And the funny thing is……..
In every great success we get……..
They haven’t achieved it because of their willpower.
They’ve achieved it because……..
THEY’VE STOPPED RELYING ON WILLPOWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
People rarely come to us as their first attempt to lose weight, get in shape, etc.
They’ve usually tried the ‘standard menu of options’ of gyms, slimming clubs and diets.
Usually hating every moment.
Forcing themselves to do it because they want the promised benefits.
Running on willpower.
A finite resource that eventually runs out.
If you went on our Facebook page and asked all the success stories on there if they would rather;
A) Carry on eating, exercising, feeling and looking as they have been since they started with us or
B) Go back to how they used to eat, exercise, feel and look
I don’t think you’d find a single one that would even consider option B for a millisecond.
No willpower needed.

If you’re still relying on willpower, then here’s a few things that should help:
- Find a form of exercise that you enjoy and can do with like minded people who you like being with (Hint: That’s what we do so well – myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting)
- Concentrate on what a food does to / for you more than how it tastes
- At the same time learn a range of healthy meal options that are just as tasty and convenient as the unhealthy ones (there are loads)
- Surround yourself with other people on the same journey as you – if most people do it then it becomes your norm ( Hint #2: Same as #1 – www.theacdemygtc.co.uk/briefing-meeting
- Find other things that do for you what the unhealthy food and drink does so you’re not leaving a cake / biscuit or beer / wine shaped whole in your life. Other things that destress you, relax you, bring you pleasure.
Hope that helps 🙂
