….. And enjoy themselves – Making exercise and weight loss fun

So, I was doing some ironing the other day.

 

Stick with me – I know good stories don’t usually start with “I was doing some ironing”.

 

The kids had Peppa Pig on.

 

Anyone with kids will know about Peppa.

 

Anyone without kids hopefully doesn’t.

 

She’s a cartoon pig.

 

In this episode Mummy and Daddy Pig were going to the gym (I’ve just googled and it’s Season 3, Episode 45 for those that are now desperate to see it).

 

So my ears pricked up a little.

 

And I was pleased to hear the narator describe the gym as………

 

And I quote……….

 

“Where mummies and daddies go to exercise and enjoy themselves”

 

Because that’s the key.

 

The second bit.

 

Enjoying ourselves.

 

Sure, we may never like exercising as much as we do some things.

 

But, from our experience, if we don’t enjoy it to some reasonable degree, then we won’t stick with it.

 

It’s just not worth it.

 

We might not consciously mean to stop.

 

But we probably will over time.

 

If you don’t enjoy what your currently doing, then try to find a way so that you do.

 

Try something different (cough ** us ** cough –> myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting).

 

Go somewhere where everyone is friendly and welcoming (cough ** still us ** cough).

 

Maybe buddy up with a friend.

 

Track your progress and performance session to session to give yourself a constant sense of achievement.

 

You get the point.

 

It needs to be, at least, reasonably enjoyable.

 

If it’s not at the moment………..

 

Then find a way to make it so that it is 🙂
