Whilst I’m on the subject of 1985 films this week, I thought I would Google and find a few more for inspiration.

Another big release in 1985 was the final Roger Moore Bond film, A View To A Kill.

Unfairly panned in my book as I think it’s a pretty good entry in the Bond canon.

Seeing this reminded me of the following post that I made on Facebook just under 2 years ago;

“Talking to Jamie about the COVID vaccine and why some people are against it and how some things in the past were felt to be safe but turned out not to be.

Jamie: “Yeah, I saw on the news the other day about some pregnant women were given drugs in the Second World War. And some of the babies turned out to be super smart. But psychotic.”

Me: “That wasn’t the news mate. That was the James Bond film we watched last night – A View To A Kill. You’re thinking of the baddie Max Zorin”.

Now Jamie, my middle son, was only 10 at the time.

But I’m pretty sure that we’ve all miss-remembered or misunderstood something we’ve seen or heard.

And potentially not realised or had it pointed out for a while.

We’ve heard about “fat burning zones” and misinterprited that as “easier exercise is best”.

Then spent years exercising at an intensity that’s not going to do all that much.

Or we’ve heard about Intermittent Fasting and not fully appreciated that that only works as a method for creating a calorie deficit.

And then laboured under the misapprehension that eating at certain times is inherently fattening (or not).

Or we’ll have seen heavily muscled women (or men) lifting weights and then spent years avoiding lifting heavy enough to actually do anything because we were concerned the same would happen to us.

Missing the fact that they were, in the case of the particularly muscled, pumped full of steroids and growth hormone.

That’s probably the top three things that people misunderstand or misremember.

Hope it helped 🙂

Much love,

Jon ‘Super smart. But psychotic’ Hall
