I mentioned the tale of the ‘Pied Piper’ yesterday.
Second time I’ve done a blog on him actually.
Here’s t’other if you want to check it out? –> myrise.co.uk/always-thought-stupid
Fairy tales usually have a happier ending than this type of tale.
Usually something like ‘And they all lived happily ever after’.
But, as they explored in ‘Shrek 2’, what happens after ‘Happily ever after’?
How do you keep things going after that initial excitement has worn off.
It’s the same for people when they are on a journey of body / life transformation – losing weight, getting fitter, healthier, etc.
It’s exciting to start with.
Results come relatively quickly and easily.
But, over time, they slow.
And slower results are less motivating.
Coupled with the novelty wearing off somewhat, it all becomes that bit harder to stick with.
And that is, unfortunately, where most people stop.
And usually slide backwards.
Often gaining more weight than they’d lost in the first place.
Usually to then repeat the process with something else ‘shiny and new’.
The ability to “stop stopping” is the key to long term change.
Figuring out what to do after “Happily ever after” is where life long results come from.
It’s about creating routines.
Habits that you “just do”.
About challenging and changing self limiting beliefs and mindsets that hold you back.
About divorcing the whole thing from ‘motivation’ and ‘willpower’ and it just becoming part of your life.
About accepting that this is something to do for the rest of your life (myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting if you like the sound of that rather than another temporary quick fix come January).
And being cool with that as it’s more than worth it.
Much love,
Jon ‘Donkey’ Hall and Matt ‘Fiona’ Nicholson
