Today is our monthly Coaching Day.

Online only now we’re in Tier 4, of course.

For anyone who doesn’t know, Coaching Day is usually where we get the majority of our member’s assessments done, along with interpretation, goal setting and coaching and a mini workout. Check myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting if you like the sound of a programme designed to get you results, rather than just renting access to equipment – The find out more meeting isn’t till 26th January now because the January programme sold out in December. That, hopefully, says something about the difference between what we do and the gyms that will be hassling you to join all this month 🙂

This time last month we were still in person so had the normal Coaching Day setup.

The first slot is at 5.45am so I usually get in a bit earlier than I would do for a 6am session.

As I’d had a lot of early starts around that time (and had some more coming up that week), I didn’t make my alarm any earlier.

Which meant I was a bit tight for time when I got to the club.

I’d got a few things to carry in – phone lead (as I needed to transfer some files off my phone and to charge it between blocks of bookings), a flask of coffee, my hoodie and more.

I popped them on the desk in the corridor and went into the main room to switch everything on.

I then realised that I’d forgotten to bring in the extension lead from home I use to power the (moved) InBody scales.

So I sprinted upstairs and grabbed a few from the metal cabinet.

By the time I got everything plugged in, there was only a few minutes till the first person was due.

As I switched on the socket, it tripped a switch in the fuse box.

Plunging the club into darkness and turning off everything I’d turned on.

So I quickly flicked the switch back on and ran round turning things on.

Grabbed an armful of stuff off the desk and brought it through to the table next to the InBody.

And, you guessed it, spilt the coffee all over the floor (the flask lid popped off).

So I then had to mop that up with paper towel and put out a ‘Caution: Wet floor sign’.

All rather a faff.

And all entirely avoidable.

By not giving myself enough time………..

By not planning ahead a touch more……..

It meant everything ended up taking more time, effort and mental energy.

As often happens.

We often don’t put much thought into our food and / or exercise choices for the week………

Because we feel busy and there’s more pressing stuff………

Only for us to end up ‘down’ on time overall.

10 or 20 minutes giving some thought to our plans, maybe doing an online food order and / or booking our sessions………….

Can lead to saving 10 minutes every day.

Where we’d end up going to the staff canteen / garage forecourt / coffee shop, etc.

Planning ahead and scheduling can often seem boring and restrictive.

But it is, in fact, the exact opposite.

It means stuff gets done more quickly and efficiently.

Creating more time, energy and focus for the fun stuff.

Much love,

Jon ‘Always ask for a black filter coffee (or Americano if it’s somewhere that will only understand that) and get asked at least two thirds of the time if I “want milk in that?”‘ Hall
