So, we’re in a new year.
The time, as the name gives away, for New Year’s resolutions.
If you talk to most of our fellow FitPros, they will discourage you from doing so.
Correctly pointing out the low long term success rate of these resolutions.
The thing is though, if done correctly it can be a great time of year for setting new goals and trying new things.
Christmas is out of the way.
Everything is a bit more back to normal.
There’s not a great deal of other distractions in January.
It should be a good time to make a good start on something.
So, why is it often not a successful approach?
Well, I’m going to cover that this week.
Five different ‘considerations’ for you if you’re planning on either some resolutions or goals.
Today’s ‘consideration’.
Don’t try it the same way you’ve done before.
Einstein once said “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results” (although having googled it, he may not have said it. Point still stands though).
Different approaches work for different people.
But if a certain approach hasn’t worked for you in the past………
Possibly year and year after year……….
Then what will be different this time?
Just joining a gym, starting a diet, going running regularly, etc……….
Are all perfectly fine approaches.
But if you tried them last January………..
And didn’t find you could ‘stick to it’ for long………….
Then why will this time be any different?
The stars never align.
Things never get easier.
The time is never right.
If it wasn’t a good approach for you last time, it probably won’t be this time.
So, today’s top tip – try something different!
Much love,
Jon ‘Strokes’ Hall
P.S. That different approach might be to try out what we do, if you haven’t already. Rather than joining a gym AGAIN! Find out more via www.myrise.co.uk/apply
