The wife and I like to watch TV quiz show The Chase.

 

And play the app version of the game.

 

I also enjoy answering the questions.

 

The wife rarely seems to bother with that bit 😉

 

Anyway, we were watching it the other day.

 

The Chaser was Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinna.

 

After answering one question that had something to do with salads, he said “You might have noticed I’ve not had many salads.”

 

Later he answered a question that was something to do with kissing.

 

And said “I’ve not had many kisses either. Although the two could be related.”

 

It was a light hearted joke, of course.

 

But it highlights something few FitPros are willing to talk about.

 

Part (or all) of the reason some people decide to get in shape is to have more sex.

 

Not everyone, I know.

 

But after 15 years in this industry, I know it to be plenty.

 

So, as the people they’re coming to see to help with that, why wouldn’t we talk about it?

 

It’s one of the many things that’s more powerful than the way we’ve been taught to express what we really want.

 

Which is your weight.

 

A number on some scales.

 

Making that number a smaller number isn’t all that motivating.

 

Getting more / better sex is, am I right?

As is having more energy.

 

To work, to play with the kids, to not feel knackered at the end of the day, etc.

 

As is less aches and pains.

 

And so on.

 

If you’re reason (or one of) wanting to get in better shape is more / better sex, there’s nothing wrong with that.

 

The key to long term success is finding what it means to you.

 

Your ‘Why’.

 

Finding the answer that will keep you going when it gets a bit harder.

 

More so than a number on your scales.

 

And keeping that ‘Why’ front of mind.

 

Remembering it’s your ‘Why’ and no one else and it is whatever it is for you 🙂
