There’s a lot of shite in the media about exercise, nutrition and so on.

For us dudes too.

But women really seem to get some crappy advice.

I get tagged on BookFace pretty much daily with some nonsense that one of our lady ninjas has seen and would either like to point out its ridiculousness or check whether it has any merit.

A lot of it is suggesting completely pointless exercises that are, apparently, great for toning.

With most you’d genuinely get better results by having a nap.

###################################################

The term ‘toning’ is a bit like the word ‘cellulite’.

It doesn’t really mean anything.

Cellulite is just a nicer word for fat.

Toning is just a more socially acceptable word for building muscle and / or losing body fat.

But the idea of women building some quality muscle isn’t really socially acceptable.

People normally think of female muscle as steroid fuelled body builders.

Remember – women don’t get that big with out injecting themselves with anabolic stuff and growth hormone.

A bit of strategically placed muscle is key for gaining the sort of look the vast majority of women like (from our experience).

###############################################

And I’d bet the kind of exercises you see models demonstrating in magazines and online aren’t the ones they used to look like that.

Things involving 2 kilo dumbells or a few sets of 8 reps of body weight won’t do anything.

Women’s bodies respond to a challenge in the same way men’s do.

Despite this strange thought process that men’s bodies respond to hard exercises and women”s to easy ones.

Women don’t need to be wrapped in cotton wool and protected from real workouts.

We’re not in Victorian times where women shouldn’t be seen sweating or grunting.

We always find that the women we see at RISE love doing the ‘proper’ exercises with ‘the boys’.

They love pushing themselves.

And love the results that they bring.

###########################################

So, in summary, the best way for women to exercise is like men.

There are differences, sure.

But we always find the female body responds better to the type of exercise normally associated with men than the super easy ‘girl workouts’ they see in the media.

Much love,
