I mentioned in yesterday’s blog the electric car that the wife and I have through her work scheme. It’s great. Super cheap to run – a home charge works out about 2-3p per mile in electricity. Compared to several times that for fuel nowadays. The amount of fuel a car needing depending of course, on it’s size and how much we drive it. Is what it is. There’s a good reason. Completey fair. Much like our energy requirements. Largely dictated by our size and activity levels. Marginal variations outside of that (up to 8% some research says but that will be, in part, down to variations in body composition of two people of the same overall mass). A 6’4″, 20 stone, very active person is going to require a lot more energy than a 5 ft, 8 stone and inactive person. Two people who are “kind of the same size”, but one’s body composition is made up of considerably more body fat and the other’s considerably more muscle………. And the latter is 20% more active……… Are going to have somewhat different energy requirements. Frustrating and annoying? Maybe. Completely fair though. Ultimately, our energy requirements are what they are. We all have an amount we will maintain current mass on (maintenance calories)………. And an amount lower than that that we will lose mass on (deficit calories)……… And an amount higher than that that we will gain mass on (surplus calories)……… We can either lament that and not make the changes that need to be made to achieve our results . Or we can accept it, make those changes and achieve those results (cough ** with some proven help –> www.myrise.co.uk/apply ** cough). It’s fair either way.
