Over the last few days I’ve talked about several misleading statements you may have heard with relation to affecting energy usage and your “metabolism” (and how you can “boost your metabolism”.

All vaguely rooted in scientific fact but all hugely exaggerated and misinterpreted to the point often doing the opposite to what’s intended.

Ultimately the vast majority of our energy requirements are dictated by our size and activity levels.

There are variances outside of that, but they’re relatively minimal.

So, ironically, by far the easiest way to increase our energy needs / boost our metabolism……….

Is to gain weight.

And when the majority of potential weight change will come from gaining fat or muscle, by far the easiest way to increase that weight……….

Is to gain fat.

Ironically, for all the claims that many in my field make about magical ways they can boost your metabolism to help you lose weight……….

The easiest and most impactful way we can boost our metabolism is to gain weight.

Much love,
