For someone to start at RISE, three things usually matter… KLT – know, like and trust. If people don’t know you, they won’t start. If they don’t like you, they won’t stick. If they don’t trust you, they won’t commit. But there’s another kind of trust that matters more here. Because, I would like to think that’s more than enough “proof of concept” out there for people to trust us. Hundreds of verified success stories. Four times Top 6 in the UK at the National Fitness Awards and top in the region or country on all review sites. Near daily social media posts about the latest member successes. So I get that often it boils down to people not trusting themselves. Sometimes that’s me reading between the lines but many times people have explicitly told me that. If I could guarantee results for £3 a day with zero effort… I’m sure I would be a very rich man. But it does involve effort. We’ve made it as easy and as ‘done for you’ as possible, but still requires doing things differently to what we’ve been doing before. And whilst I can guarantee that it will work if someone does it……… There is no guarantee that they will do it. Most people have tried before – and not followed through. Signing up to some programme or membership and not using it enough to get the results that they wanted. Sometimes not using it at all. Which just reinforces that lack of trust that the next time will be different. So what’s the answer? If we’re being honest with ourselves, we know the answer is not to ‘do nothing’. Not getting any results, or sliding backwards, is never the best answer. And doing the exact same approach as before when it didn’t work isn’t a great one either. So what is a better approach? From my experience (loads) here are a few key things; 1. Become okay with knowingly suboptimal and done now over theoretically better and deferred 2. Set actual specific plans and schedule the constituent steps (not just telling ourselves “I know what I need to do, I just need to do it”) 3. Create some degree of accountability. If it doesn’t matter if we don’t do it, we won’t do it. If we’ve told someone that we will and they’ll check in with us, it doesn’t make it automatic, but it does make it more likely. If we put some ‘skin in the game’ it makes it more likely still. 4. When it doesn’t happen, we don’t beat ourselves up and stop completely, but we look to average out where we can, learn from what happened and make better plans going forward. By approaching our goals with the above in mind (all of which we help with –> www.myrise.co.uk/apply) we start to make progress. We build confidence and momentum. We increase that trust in ourselves. And that changes everything. Much love, Jon ‘fall’ Hall
