I recently wrote a blog about Emma Raducanu.

You know, off of the tennis.

—– Note: I primarily used “off of” there to wind my sister up ——–

I mentioned that she’d won the US Open despite not believing she would.

She had flights home booked for well before the final.

My mum commented on the post.

As she often does, bless her.

“She must’ve believed something”

That’s been whirring around in the back of my mind since.

And I just came to the realisation of what she did believe.

She believed she could win the next point.

That was, probably, it.

One point at a time.

And they added up.

And, ultimately, that’s all we can ever really do.

We can have plans and thoughts about the future.

We can use the experience of the past.

But all that ever exists is the moment we’re in.

We can believe we can win the next point.

We can believe we can book a workout.

We can believe we can turn up for a workout.

We can believe we can do that next repetition.

We can believe we can make a better food choice than we might otherwise have.

We can believe we can stop when we’ve had enough.

Each of those things have minimal benefit by themselves.

But they add up.

To the equivalent of games, sets and matches.

We might not really believe we can go “all the way”.

But that doesn’t really matter.

If we keep scoring points………

We will!

Much love,

‘Pistol’ Jon Hall

P.S. If you want to make 2022 the year you actually ‘go all the way’ (or, at least, considerably closer)……….. with a money back guarantee………. then don’t wait till January as you’ll get the annual price change and the places will run out (they always do). Apply now at www.myrise.co.uk/apply
