People come to see us to get results.
We try to make the whole journey as enjoyable as possible, of course.
But the result is what they joined for.
So we see it as our job to help get them there.
Not just to give them a workout.
Part of getting people that result is to help them question mindsets, self limiting beliefs, habits and the like.
Often the brakes that mean that applying more and more ‘gas’ just causes the wheels to spin.
Release those brakes and progress can come with less ‘effort’.
Sometime it just takes one sentence.
One thing we say that helps people gain instant clarity.
I was talking to a ninja the other week.
They weren’t making the progress they’d like.
But they weren’t using any of our support systems (setting and tracking goals, touching base with us and so on).
I pointed that out as it might be something that would help them start going in the right direction.
They weren’t keen.
“I just want to do it at my own pace”
“But your own pace is backwards?” I replied.
You could see the penny drop.
Change of training pace
Going at our own pace is nice in theory.
And sometimes in practice.
But if that pace won’t get you where you want to get to……….
Then maybe it’s time to question that.
Sometimes we might need to ‘go at a pace’ that isn’t comfortable.
At least to start with.
Changes of pace get more and more comfortable the longer we do them.
What was once hard becomes a new habit.
Maybe not ‘easy’.
But definitely ‘easier’.
If you’re happy with your pace and how it’ll get you to your goal, that’s great.
If you’re happy, we’re happy.
If you’re not though?
Maybe try a change of training pace for now?
Try it out for size and see how you get on 🙂
