Have you ever been playing a game like charades with a friend or your other half on your team?

You’re doing the actions and they’re just not getting it.

“Come on. You know this one” you say, getting progressively more irritated.

“It’s really obvious” you think to yourself.

What else could this mean?

The ‘curse of knowledge’.

Clear Personal Training Instructions

It’s easy to forget that not everyone knows what we do.

Or at least not the finer nuances, the contexts and so on.

Many times over the years we’ve had things we’ve said or written misconstrued.

Later we hear from people “Oh, I thought you meant ………”

When we look back, we almost can’t see why.

Knowing what we know it’s supposed to mean, we can’t quite see how it could be seen any other way.

It’s easily done though.

Clear personal training instructions

Even though we make a conscious effort to make everything as clear as possible and minimise any ambiguity………..

It always happens.

So, if you’re any less than 100% sure about anything you could do to get (better) results, then ask.

I had a cancellation the other day from someone saying she was “just too confused by the food side”.

Even though I’d asked her several times how she was getting on with it and she’d said “fine”.

The Coaching Relationship

Any coaching relationship works two ways.

We’ll try our best to make things as clear as possible and to minimise that ‘curse of knowledge’. To set clear personal training instructions.

You ask if you’re less than 100% sure on anything.

Deal?

Much love,
