I briefly mentioned in yesterday’s blog about other people not caring about what we are doing anywhere near as much as we sometimes think.
Because it’s human nature to worry about other people’s opinions.
To allow what people might say or think to shape our decisions.
To a degree, to run our life.
To walk around ‘covered in GOOP’.
The Good Opinion of Other People.
And it’s massively freeing when we realise a few things;
1. We can’t please all of the people all of the time. And trying to means that we please no one.
2. We don’t like everyone so it’s okay for some to not like or be bothered about us.
3. Most people don’t care about us anywhere near as much as we might tell ourselves that they do. They’re too busy doing their own stuff and worrying about what we think about them.
It’s a common thing on people’s deathbeds for them to say that they wish that they’d “cared less what other people thought”.
I don’t think anyone’s saying that they’d wished that they’d cared more.
At most, perhaps, we can keep a small circle of people whose opinions we value enough to let them affect our actions.
But, ultimately, there’s only one person who needs to think that what you’re doing is OK.
And that’s the person you see in the bathroom mirror every night.
Much love,
Jon ‘Noel’s House Party’ Hall
P.S. We do more than just help people lose weight you know. If you’re not confident that you’re getting to your deathbed 100% happy with the life you’ve lived, then let’s, at least, get that moving in the right direction –> www.myrise.co.uk/apply
