Next Tuesday we are hosting a seminar by Phil Richards – one of the UK’s leading experts on maximising hormones for weight loss, muscle gain and just generally feeling awesome.

It’s going to be awesome – check it out here if you haven’t already.

Anyhoo, it’s £10 a ticket with all proceeds going to Ollie’s Army who we fund raised for at last year’s Born Survivor event.

We’d set a target or raising £10k.

And ended up with £9,183.54.

As it stands now, we’ve got 44 people coming to the seminar, which bumps us up to ££9,623.54.

“I hope we get to the 10 grand” someone said to me the other day.

“I kinda felt like we’d failed before”

Which I get.

But the way to actually look at that isn’t that we failed to raise £10,000.

But that we’d raised £9,183.54 to help two very poorly children and their family.

Prior to that we did the ‘Everest Climb’ on the 108 steps.

And raised over 3k (for Children With Cancer) when 3k was our target.

Before that was the 24 hour Burpee-a-thon where we raised over 4k but had an initial target of 10.

It would be easy to think of that as missing two out of three targets.

Of falling short by over £6,000.

But what we actually did was raise about £17,000 for some great causes.

How we choose to see success and failure is key to how much success we get.

I get having targets.

And wanting them and working towards them.

But what happens when they’re missed is the difference maker.

Although the success rate on our ’20lbs challenge’ is several times the industry average………

Not everyone loses the 20lbs in 8 weeks.

Some lose, for example, 15lbs.

See this as failure.

Stop.

And regain all the weight and more.

Some may lose 13lbs.

Be disappointed, but see that they’ve still lost 13lbs.

Which is great.

And carry on to lose 20, 40 or 60 (myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting if you like the sound of doing that, potentially for free).

Same with shorter term things.

We all have “bad” days / weekends / weeks.

Those that then stop will never get the results of those that put it into context and carry on.

When everything is black and white, fail or succeed, it set’s most up to fail.

See the shades of grey.

Learn from the less good bits sure.

But don’t let them derail you 🙂

Much love,

Jon ‘Jean’ Hall and Matt ‘Christian’ Nicholson

P.S. A point for those middle names. BTW yesterday’s were to do with Ulysses. Homer’s Odyssey and Ulysses S. Grant.
