Anytime the wife and I get remotely slowed down in traffic she will invariably say ‘Total gridlock’ in a Jamaican accent.
You remember the Lilt advert for the early 90s right?
Any time me and my old school or Uni friends get together, someone will be slapped around the face while the ‘slapper’ yells ‘Tango’.
And I bet anyone who’s over 30 can complete this sentence:
And all because the lady loves……..
Certain things just seem to have a way in sticking in our individual and collective mind sets.
Sometimes that’s good.
Sometimes it’s just a bit of fun.
And sometimes it’s bad.
So many things that have been completely disproved decades ago still stick in the public conscious.
People’s concerns over dietary fat linger on years after it was shown categorically that too little fat was just as bad as too much.
And that too much processed food, chemical and sugar was much more of a problem.
The government guidelines do actually say we need certain amounts of fat.
And they warn about too much sugar.
But that message often seems to get lost.
The message ‘eggs are bad’ has stuck despite never having any real backing.
The concept of ‘diet’ foods being better lingers on.
And so on.
Just because someone was saying it 20 years ago, doesn’t mean it’s still valid.
If you’re not sure whether some of the things you’ve heard / believe are true……..
