I mentioned yesterday that our application process involves me having a chat with people on the phone.

It’s not salesly.

There’s no pressure.

We just look at what someone is wanting to achieve.

What they’ve tried before and why that may, or may not, have worked.

If we both decide we’re a good fit for each other, we’ll get cracking.

If not, for whatever reason, we can recommend something else.

Sometimes people reply to our initial messages saying “Can you just send the info on email?”

Or, somewhat more abruptly, “Price and times?”

Even “Do I have to speak to you on the phone?”

Which I get.

We’re all busy.

But sending all the info on email with a join now link isn’t how we do things.

We send general info out on email when someone first requests information, sure.

But just giving a someone that link to sign up is what you do when you’re just renting someone access to some equipment and it’s up to them to turn up and do their own thing on it (AKA “a gym”).

Ours is a Coaching based programme.

Not instruction based (at best) where we’d just give people stuff to do.

Coaching is a two way, interactive process.

And it starts right from the beginning.

We need to know what someone’s looking to achieve.

What that really looks like and means to them.

Why they might have struggled with that in the past.

How we can set them up for success right from Day One.

And get people used to the fact that this process involves Coaching and communication – not just spring that on them after a few weeks.

And people need to know what the Programme is before being able to make an investment decision.

Just sending someone a price with no context of what it’s for is pointless.

And our Programme isn’t for everyone.

We’ve got a great community and a welcoming, intimidation free atmosphere.

We don’t want just anyone wandering in and affecting that.

That initial conversation helps us both see if we’re a good fit for each other.

If we’re not, that’s cool.

Doesn’t make either of us a bad person.

Just we’re not the right solution for them.

We’d rather realise that now than after a few frustrating weeks for both sides.

Much love,

Jon ‘of Duty’ Hall

P.S. If you’d like to have a look at if we’re a good fit for each other and see if the programme is the solution for you, then you can apply now at www.myrise.co.uk/apply – the worst that will happen is it’s not a goer and we’ll recommend something else for you. The best that will happen is you will change you life!
