It’s 10th October 1582.

You know the score.

It’s not really.

It’s that thing I do to set the scene.

And I didn’t want to just re-ask the same question as was in the blog title.

And it doubly isn’t that date.

Because that date never happened.

None of the dates between the 5th and 14th happened.

The ‘world’ jumped from the 4th to the 15th October as the Gregorian Calendar ‘reset’ after centuries of not having leap years (or leap seconds which I’m sure, like me until recently, you didn’t know were a thing, did you? I’ll tell you something interesting about leap seconds tomorrow).

So, nothing happened.

As it does more often than we’d probably be willing to admit.

I’m sure you know that we recommend a few days of tracking our food as a way to make changes to our intake.

To see where ‘it all went’.

And we can do the same with time.

Track that.

See where it went.

See how we can make better use of it.

Record what we’ve done with the last 15 minutes every 15 minutes for 3 to 7 days.

And prepare to be flabbergasted with how much more ‘flexible time’ we had than we thought.

After telling ourselves that we weren’t doing those things we kinda thought we should, because of how busy we were…………

We realise we could’ve done them.

That we had enough time.

That not every single one of the 10,080 minutes of the week were filled with essential activities.

That there was stuff we did that we could’ve just chosen not to do at all.

Or that we could’ve done less of.

Or someone else could’ve done.

Or that we could’ve ‘batched’ (done for a longer period less frequently for an overall reduction in time taken).

Or we could’ve done more ‘efficiently’.

If we’ve ever thought that we’re “too busy” to do something………….

Accurately tracking where that finite resource of time has being getting spent…………

Is the most powerful thing we can do to ‘re-assign’ just enough of it to get done those things.

Much love,

Jon ‘At least Halloween would’ve come round quicker that year’ Hall

P.S. I’m aware that Halloween wasn’t really a thing (like it is now anyway) back then.

P.P.S. Giving you ideas on how you can make changes in these blogs is all very well. But I can guarantee the results you’d get from working with us properly will eclipse anything you’d do off the back of reading this. Reply with INFO to find out more about how that would work!
