I mentioned in yesterday’s blog that my eldest son has recently finished his GCSEs.

He had his mocks towards the end of last year and a few subjects weren’t quite where we’d have liked them to be.

So we got him a maths tutor for a lesson a week.

And, a bit later on, an English tutor.

Both thoroughly recommended if anyone’s looking for a tutor by the way.

Initially he wasn’t keen.

Amongst his various reasons was the title for this blog.

“Do you think I’m thick dad?” he asked me more than once.

“No, the exact opposite” began my reply.

“If I thought you were thick, I’d think that the grade you got for your mocks was more than fine.”

“This is just to help you get the grade that you’re capable of”

And, whilst I’d be lying if I said it was his favourite part of the week, he got on with both really well.

We’re confident now that whatever grade he gets in a few weeks is the right grade for him.

And I’m glad that he’s really seen the value of taking additional help when you, arguably, don’t really have to.

Because that is a valuable lesson in life.

One that many never learn.

Over the years I’ve spoken to countless people about what we can do with them down at RISE.

And a common “objection” is variations of “I can do that by myself”.

Which, of course, is technically true.

We can all eat better and exercise more without any help.

The vast majority of us could, in theory, get better health and fitness results than we are now, without any additional external help.

“We know what we need to do, we just need to do it” you might say.

But in the vast majority of those situations where people expressed something like that to me………..

They’ve usually just spent a number of the preceding minutes explaining to me that it hasn’t been happening.

That they’ve been gaining weight and / or losing health, fitness, energy and mood.

Much like someone could, in theory, get. better at maths from using past papers, apps, websites and the like…….

But they’re much more likely to make much better progress working with a professional………

The tactical assistance from an experienced professional with a proven track record (cough ** 22 years, 3 times National Fitness Awards shortlisted, top in the UK on Club Trainer and FreeIndex, top in the region on Facebook and Google ** cough) can take us from “can do” to “have done”.

So, if you’re a member, and not getting the results that you’d like, then let’s use all the parts of what we offer (not just the Sessions).

If you’re not a member yet, what are you waiting for?

Those results that you could, in theory, get yourself, but have been eluding you can be found by following this link —> www.myrise.co.uk/apply

Much love,
