When you enter a shop, which way do you normally go, if straight on isn’t an option?

If you answered ‘Right’ then you are in the majority.

And the shop owners know this.

And put the items with the highest profit margins there.

Sneaky, heh?

Ultimately, it’s a case of understanding human psychology.

And using it for gain.

Which we can all do.

On ourselves!

The more we accept certain things about ourselves………

The easier it can be to change other things.

To play the game in a way that works with our own psychology.

Rather than battle against it.

Struggle with ‘willpower’?

Then make it so it’s ‘tested’ less.

Avoid having the things around that test that willpower so much.

Do online food shops so you’re not so tempted.

Or, if you’re in a certain shop, avoid certain aisles altogether?

Time breaks at work so you’re not there when crappy food is.

Prep tactical meals ahead of time so that when it comes to decision time, the ready made meal infront of you is way more likely than the otherwise more tempting crappy meal you’d normally go and get.

And so on.

Know how your brain works.

And work with it, rather than making it harder than it has to be?

Much love,

Jon ‘Ian’ Hall and Matt ‘Matthew’ Nicholson

P.S. Point for the connection in those middle names.

P.P.S. For yesterday’s middle names – John Cleese took over from Desmon Llewellyn as Q after his death (for one film anyway). Algy (played by Alec McCowen) was the real name of Q in the unofficial Bond film Never Say Never Again.
