I mentioned in yesterday’s blog that my wife and I recently got some runs in together whilst in the South of France.
Even early doors, it was so hot that the pace was moderate at best.
A bit of running, some walking here and there.
But, do you know what we didn’t do when it got too hard?
Run backwards.
Be a bit daft that, wouldn’t it?
Because it got too hard to go forward at the pace we’d like, it meant that we slowed down or even stopped, sure.
It didn’t mean that going backwards and leaving further to go made sense.
Like it doesn’t when we can’t eat as well as we would like.
It’s great if we can eat in a way that loses us a couple of pounds a week.
Motivating.
If we can’t, then the next best thing is eating in a way that loses a pound a week.
Or maybe even a way that maintains our weight.
“Writing off” a period of time and going backwards because we can’t go forwards as fast as we would like, doesn’t make any sense.
Whether that’s in our running or our eating.
Between where we are and where we’d like to get to, there’s an amount of ‘distance’ that needs to be covered.
Slowing down and speeding up along that route makes sense.
Going backwards when we can’t go forward at the speed we would like does not.
Much love,

P.S. Obscure middle name there. Any one?
P.P.S. Ready for actually getting where you want over time rather than one step forward, two steps back? You’ll find that at www.myrise.co.uk/apply
