What would you do if you didn’t have time for three full, sit-down meals in a day?

I’m pretty sure no one would just ‘not eat’.

We’d have several smaller things, I’m sure.

Snacks if you will.

Even if we didn’t end up having as much as we might normally have, I’m pretty sure our thought process wouldn’t be “I can’t fit three meals in today, so I’ll leave eating until tomorrow”.

So why can’t I exercise be the same?

All the research shows that, when volume matched, it doesn’t matter in the slightest how we split our exercise up.

If we do the same total amount, then three lots of 20 minutes is exactly the same as one hour.

And, from my experience, chances are will work a little bit harder for those three lots of 20 minutes.

We’ll probably get more volume done.

10 minutes in the morning and in the evening each day is the same as three 45 minute workouts in a week.

Again probably more in reality.

It’s all too easy to get caught up in the idea that the only exercise worth doing is the equivalent of three or more big meals a day.

But work matched “exercise snacks” will be just as effective………..

And probably actually a way to increase the total work done and the overall effectiveness.

Much love,
