I have membership base number that I try and maintain at RISE, which serves as one of my key fitness indicators.

A number that, ultimately, covers all the bills (much as I love helping people, I can’t help them for much longer if I can’t pay what’s due).

Excluding lockdowns, I’ve kept that number within the range needed for over 120 consecutive months.

Sometimes it hits the bottom end and a bit more time and effort is needed to get it back up.

Invariably, when it starts to drop a little, it’s not a factor of what is happening that month……

But what happened, or not, a month or three ago.

Looking back, invariably less effort was put into generating new leads and having conversations with them.

And the result of numbers dropping a bit isn’t really felt all that much immediately.

Payments for 4 week trials only contribute a small percentage of the business’ turnover.

——— People sometimes ask why I don’t make the trial free as “I’m sure you’d get more people do it”. Two reasons. As I said, I’ve had enough people on the programme for over a twelve years straight. But more importantly, that lack of skin-in-the-game attracts time wasters and even puts the more serious in a different, less beneficially frame of mind. I honestly think if someone’s not willing to try something with a Money Back Guarantee that they’ll love it and be glad they did it, then it’s not happening (then at least) whatever the front end offer was. It’s www.myrise.co.uk/apply if you’d like to try us out literally risk free. Or keep doing the same and getting the same ———-

It’s a month or six down the line when people haven’t signed up for a longer term or paid for a period in advance that it’s more noticeable.

Its ‘lead’ versus ‘lag’ indicators.

The things that you can do now that you don’t necessarily see the benefit for immediately, but contribute towards that result further down the line.

Like your daily better food choices and workouts (or whatever else contributes towards whatever your goal is).

Tempting to miss (or ‘adjust’) because there’s minimal immediate downside to that.

But that you’ll ‘feel’ further down the line.

Generally speaking, I’d say I’m pretty good at keeping the top of my “lead indicators”.

But it definitely helps to have a hard and fast range that I need to keep my numbers between.

When it edges closer towards the bottom, it’s a prompt that I need to take more action.

And we can have the same.

A weight that we do not allow ourselves to go above.

Some measure of (a lack of) fitness that tells us that we need to make changes.

Some equivalent of bumpers on a bowling lane that start to knock us back towards the middle when we go too far one way (cough **** massive part of what I do *** cough —> www.myrise.co.uk/apply)

But always remember that it’s those lead indicators that we need to keep on top of that add up to those lag indicators that are the results we desire.
