A perpetual motion machine is a “hypothetical machine that can do work infinitely without an external energy source.”
Whilst there are records showing people attempting to create such machinery around a thousand years ago………
As long ago as 1494 Leonardo Da Vinci was quoted as saying “Oh ye seekers after perpetual motion, how many vain chimeras have you pursued? Go and take your place with the alchemists”.
Scientific proofs over the last century have made this stance even clearer – creating something that can “go forever” will require at least two universally accepted laws of physics to be fundamentally changed.
It’s accepted that energy cannot be created or destroyed.
It just changes forms.
A “machine” that was doing something would use an amount of energy to do that thing.
We could make it tremendously efficient, sure.
But that energy would go somewhere.
And if it wasn’t being replaced externally somehow, the motion would “cease” eventually.
Someone who “doesn’t lose weight in a calorie deficit” would be a Perpetual Motion Machine.
To continuously have more energy going out than coming in (and that not be covered by energy stored in fat or elsewhere) would require that fundamental change in the way we see and understand how things work.
Sure, the numbers we use may have limited accuracy.
How readily sorted energy comes from different sources will vary.
How hard it is for people to create that deficit isn’t the same for everyone for a massive variety of reasons.
But, if we accept that us using more energy than we’re consuming………
And none of that being replaced by stored energy………
Would make us the first proven example of something that people have spent a thousand years trying to create……….
And require a seismic change to the universally accepted laws of physics………
Then we, hopefully, are more likely to accept that’s what happened is that we haven’t been in a sufficient sustained deficit over time.
And enable us to look at what the easiest ways to make that happen would be for us.
Much love,
