I’ve mentioned before that most ‘motivational quotes’ you see………
Often have the opposite effect to the desired one.
They’re often written up on gym walls.
“Go hard or go home” is one I’ve seen many times over the years.
Sounds good, on the face of it.
But, let’s face it……..
How often do most of us feel like giving it everything in our workout after a hard day’s work?
Or when we’ve only just got up?
If I genuinely had to choose between giving it my all in a workout…….
Or going home……..
I’d probably have gone home most days.
It’s that whole “all or nothing” mentality that often underpins our struggles.
“I want to be able to give it 100%”………
When that’d never happened for a sustained period of time before.
I completely get wanting to make it worthwhile………
And I know “Give it as much as you realistically can under the circumstances” doesn’t sound as ‘sexy’.
But we’re all about approaching things in the way that actually sets you up for the most progress long term.
Maybe “Just turn up”.
Schedule your workout.
Start it.
See what happens from there.
That’s all I’ve ever done.
And I’d be willing to bet most people would get more from that than “Go hard or go home” and the like!
Much love,
