I’ve had several conversations with people recently where they’ve expressed frustration that they had ‘just been going through the motions’.
They were surprised by my response.
“That’s great. Keep going”.
Because you know what’s much worse than ‘going through the motions’?
Not going through the motions.
Because, ultimately, it’s only ever action / motion that creates results.
Now, I get it – we’d like faster movement at times.
But full constant full speed is unrealistic.
And expecting that it’s going to happen will build disappointment and frustration.
You could argue that the only options we ever have with anything are;
1. Fast backwards motion
2. Slow backwards motion
3. No motion
4. Slow forward motion
5. Fast forward motion
Whilst number 5 is clearly the most desirable………..
Results will actually come from a mixture of 3, 4 and 5.
Whilst minimising 2 and 1.
Going through the motions is fine.
Sure, let’s speed up the motion when we can.
But continuing to go through the motions is what will get us there.
Much love,
