Would you say you have good manners?

Most people would say yes.

What about other people?

Does everyone else have manners as good as yours?

I reckon most will have said “No” to that.

Are you ever rude?

Are other people rude?

It’s tempting to think that everyone else has bad manners.

We have occasional bad moments.

Everyone else is rude.

We are sometimes a bit preoccupied.

We drive the perfect speed while everyone else is “a maniac” or “too slow”.

We expect other people to behave like we do.

Not even the real us – the best version of us.

The version of ourselves that we probably are at some points, but not always.

Stopping expecting ourselves from others is freeing.

Doesn’t mean that we have to put up with behaviour that we’re not ok with.

But expecting other people to act in a way that;

– We haven’t communicated to them

– They haven’t agreed to do

– We don’t always do

Is a guaranteed way to feel constantly frustrated.

You’re expecting your best from their average.

Much love,

Jon ‘LMS’ Hall
