In pretty much every Disney film ever made, there’s a ‘Happy Ever After’.

Less so the newer, ‘more insightful’ ones I suppose.

Lots of other films too.

Generally, the boy and the girl get together after some sort of problem and everything’s all good after that.

Real life’s not like that, of course.

In Shrek they explore what happens the next morning.

And onwards after that.

Life is a constant journey.

Sure it’s nice to aim for and achieve certain targets.

Might be ‘getting’ a certain partner, job, house, body, etc.

But after a while, these things just become your new norm.

Like slipping into a hot bath, you acclimatise.

We sometimes find that when people get the body they’ve wanted for and worked for…….

That they’re not as happy as they thought they would be.

Initially it’s all good.

But it soon becomes the norm.

And doesn’t provide them with the happiness it did.

And people can then slip back into old habits.

And go back to where they were.

###################

The key, of course, is to learn to love…..

The journey!

And to learn to love yourself.

Love what’s good about you.

Either change or accept what you don’t like.

And get as much enjoyment as possible out of everything you do.

Some things are more enjoyable than others, sure.

But living in the moment and getting as much out of it as you can, is all you can really do.

It takes practice, of course.

I often find myself thinking about what I’m going to do at work tomorrow……

Or next month…..

Or about something that happened years ago……

When I should be thinking about what I’m doing right now.

Playing with the kids.

Enjoying the wife’s company.

Really concentrating on whatever I’m doing then and there.

It’s still a work in progress for me.

But, like anything, it get’s easier.

Concentrate on giving it all to the moment you’re in and you can find happiness where you wouldn’t expect it.

And you’ll start to find the body, job, etc all slip into place much more easily 🙂

Much love,
