You may or may not know that I used to be a professional wrestler.

I first learned to wrestle at a wrestling school near Hillsborough in Sheffield.

Out of the guys that were there at the same time as me, I think it’s fair to say I did the most.

350+ paid matches for the top promotions in the UK and two WWE try-outs.

So, when I went back to the school or appeared on shows for them, I would get guys picking my brain.

In the same way I picked the brains of the guys above me on the ladder at the bigger shows.

They’d ask about what I was doing to get on.

And we had a forum (pre-Facebook days that) where we’d discuss such things and others.

I remember one conversation where people were contrasting me to one of the other guys from my group.

“[NAME] knows more moves” it began “but Jon is smoother at executing them”.

While it was nice to know they’d been admiring my execution, I wasn’t convinced about the knowing more moves bit.

I reckon I knew just as many moves.

But I’d just learned that you didn’t need hundreds of moves on a regular basis.

I’m not going to insult your intelligence – I’m sure you know that there’s a reason that type of wrestling isn’t in The Olympics.

The right weight loss method for you

It’s as much about entertaining the audience and taking them on a journey as it is about the athleticism itself.

You just needed to learn to execute the right ones at the right time to gain the result you desired (a certain reaction from the audience usually).

If guys weren’t getting a good reaction, it wasn’t, from my experience, because they didn’t know enough moves.

The Right Weight Loss Method for You

It’s the same with exercise and healthy eating.

Much of our industry is about the ‘latest thing’.

The new diet, the latest training technique, some obscure variation on an exercise.

Like the reason someone has struggled to lose weight is because they didn’t know about tabata training, barbell thrusters or carb backloading.

Sure, it’s always worth adding more tools to your kit.

But that’s so that you know the right one to use at the right time.

Not so you try and use them all at the same time.

Or move constantly from one to the next in that neverending search for ‘perfection’.

You don’t need to know more to get better results.

You know enough already.

You don’t need more moves.

Just know when to execute the right ones. The right weight loss method for you.

And do it!

Much love,
