I’ve mentioned before in these blogs that we’ve been struggling with getting our dog to behave as well as we might like.
I completely appreciate this is entirely down to us not doing enough with her.
A dog’s behaviour is largely a reflection of their owner.
We have made an recent change has had instant benefits, though.
A new lead.
During our last set of dog lessons, we asked the instructor about a type of lead that we’d become aware of, that also hooks over the dog’s nose.
He strongly advised against them.
Explaining that you’ll get a better behaved dog by truly teaching it properly.
And, I don’t doubt that he’s right.
But we clearly weren’t training her properly.
Or at least not enough.
The second we tried the new lead, she stopped pulling.
She didn’t like it initially, but she soon got used to it.
We’ve gotten the result that we want in a super easy way.
The best way just wasn’t happening for us.
As it often doesn’t for many people.
Much of the Fitness Industry will tell you the very best ways to get in shape.
The most advanced training protocols.
Really full on diets / changes to the way we eat.
And I don’t doubt that they’d get amazing results.
And they do for some.
But for many, they end up not getting done enough to get the result that they desire.
Yet another thing that they feel that they’ve “failed at”.
Our new lead is arguably like our approach to health and fitness.
Knowingly sub-optimal.
But gets done.
Because suboptimal and done………
Always beats theoretically better and not done.
Much love,
