Don’t worry, we haven’t locked our Andy in RISE overnight.
Although there may be opportunity at tomorrow night’s Murder Mystery social!
Instead I’m talking about Andy Dufresne in the classic 1994 film The Shawshank Redemption.
Please tell me you’ve seen it?
If not, go and watch it now, it’s brill.
I’ll wait!
…..
…..
…..
You done?
If you haven’t watched it yet, but intend to, you may want to stop reading now.
Spoiler alert!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At the end Andy, of course, finally escape Shawshank prison through a tunnel he’s been creating in his cell wall.
For 19 years!
Scraping away, bit by bit.
For approximately 7,000 days.
Each day’s progress must have been barely noticeable.
A millimetre or two.
And if Andy had concentrated on that, he’d have surely given up long before.
But, when his opportunity finally comes to escape and collect the money he’s been siphoning off for years……..
I bet he was happy he stuck with it.
Your journey to your desired body is, of course, similar.
It shouldn’t take anything like 19 years.
But it will take a little while.
The affect of each individual day, meal or workout barely noticeable.
The temptation to think it isn’t worth it.
That you’ll never get there.
To not bother with the next meal or workout.
But, if you ‘measure backwards’ you’ll see how far you’ve come.
And sticking with it will get you there.
Do you think Andy regretted all that time spent scraping his cell wall at the end when he is renovating his boat in Mexico?
Do you think anyone who obtains and maintains the body they desire regrets the effort it took when they’re on their deathbed?
Forget about the size of the job infront of you……..
And look at the progress you’ve made in the last week / month / year……..
And the whole thing becomes infinitely easier.
Promise 🙂
Much love,
Jon ‘Red’ Hall and Matt ‘Warden Norton’ Nicholson
P.S. Not made any forward progress in the last week / month / year? You know what to do 😉 –> myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting
