As a final blog related to me working hard (or not)………..

Because it’ll start to look like I’ve got a complex about it……….

I’ll share a (paraphrased) conversation that I’ve had a few times over the years.

Person: “It’s quite expensive, isn’t it?”

Me: “Well, it costs more than a budget gym, sure. But it’s a Group Personal Training Programme so great value compared to the same level of support on a 1:1 basis”

Person: “I just think you should charge less”

Me: “I couldn’t. If it was possible to offer the same for less, then someone else would come in and do that and take all the business. Stuff costs what it costs. After all the taxes, bills and other costs, there wouldn’t be enough for everyone to get paid if it was less.”.

Person: “I think you get paid too much. Especially for the hours you do”

Me: “How much do I get paid and how many hours do I do?”

Person: “What?”

Me: “How many hours do I work, per week, on average?”

Person: “How should I know?”

Me: “And how much do I get paid”

Person: “Too much”

Me: “How much”

Person: “I have no idea”

Me: “You really need to know those numbers if you’re saying one is too little and the other too large”

Person…………………..

Without actually knowing the numbers, it’s brave (at best) to make claims about them.

In all areas of life.

If we think we “don’t eat much, but can’t seem to lose weight”…………

But have “no idea” (or a vague estimation at best) how many calories we need on a daily basis………….

And how many we’re having………………

Then we would benefit massively from more accurately knowing those numbers.

If we constantly tell ourselves (and others) that we’re “too busy” to do things……………

But can’t quickly show an accurate record of where our time is going………….

Then we would benefit massively from more accurately knowing those numbers.

Tracking our food for a few days to get insights……………..

And / or taking a time log every 15 minutes for a week…………..

Are, I will admit, “a bit of a pain in the @rse”.

But they are, from my experience, the highest return on investment “pain in the @rses” there are.

Getting accuracy on the numbers in those situations enables us to make much more tactical changes to our allocation of those limited resources………..

Than we ever will if we just think they’re “too much” / “not enough” / “not much”.

Much love,

P.S. “I’m just really busy at the moment” is a common reason people give for not getting cracking on our programme. “That’s cool. Most people who do the programme are really busy too. That’s why we really work on your biggest wins and highest return on investment changes rather than giving you tonnes of stuff to do that won’t happen” is my usual reply. If you’re not taking this next step because you feel you’re “too busy”, then that really doesn’t need to be a reason –> www.myrise.co.uk/apply
