During the first lockdown the family and I did several jigsaws.
We did one 999 piece one.
You guessed it – it was supposed to be 1,000 but we found there was one missing right at the end 🙁
We still do them fairly regularly with the youngest.
How do you do a jigsaw?
If you start with the four corners, fill in the sides then work inwards, then that’s the most common approach.
It gives us a structure to work from.
We may not complete all of the outside before adding other bits, but we’ll probably have something there to base the rest off.
And it can be the same with any goals.
Out health and fitness type ones especially.
We could start with the basic ‘corners’ of;
– Eating in calorie deficit / maintenance
– Getting some sort of exercise in each week
– Getting ‘enough’ sleep
– Stress management
Not “the whole picture” of course.
But something to start with.
We may start to add the sides and work inwards with ways to do these things.
Maybe filling in more in one corner than another.
But not forgetting these are the things we are looking to do.
There’s more to an optimally healthy lifestyle than just these, of course.
That’s the completed jigsaw.
And we may never ‘finish it’ .
But we’ll get considerably closer my starting with the corners and sides and working in……..
Than if we start with all the fancier stuff that could go in the middle.
Much love,
Jon ‘My wife says she wouldn’t be able to leave an incomplete jigsaw on the table for a year for a million pounds. I think this is mad and, frankly, a little selfish. Thoughts?’ Hall
