How many decisions do you make per day related to food?

Go on, what do you think?

How many?

A 2007 study called Mindless Eating by Brian Wansink and Jeffery Sobal asked 139 people this question (along with others).

If you said 15 or so than you’d have fit right in in that study – that was the average number reported.

Further investigation though showed they actual made an average of 219 decisions per day around food.

Big difference that, no?

We make waaaayyyyyyy more decisions about food each day than we realise.

So it’s easy to see how hard it can be to keep the average of those decisions taking us in the right direction.

We might make 15 (or 50, or 150) ‘better’ decisions and think that’s enough.

But it only takes a handful of ‘less good’ ones to send us in the right direction.

And often, there’s key ones that set us up for success or failure with the rest.

Choosing the extra-large or to open that bottle or to get the Ben and Jerry’s out of the freezer led to the the later decisions that added up.

Find those key decisions (clicking this link has been described by many as one of the best decisions they ever made –> myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting).

The handful of ‘sign posts’ in your day where you can chose one route or the other.

Master (or, at least, improve) recognising those moments…………

And, more often, making those better choices…………..

And the rest of the 200+ decisions will follow suit 🙂

Much love,
