Have you ever described some of your eating as unhealthy?

You know, “I had an unhealthy weekend”.

Or describe a meal you’ve just had as “unhealthy”?

That kinda thing.

Now, we know what you mean.

We get it.

But, as with a lot of things we say, it doesn’t really make sense when you stop and think about it.

What markers of health did that meal or weekend adversely affect?

Short of drinking poison, you’d do well to adversely affect your health in a single meal.

Realistically, you’d be hard pressed to make much difference over a weekend.

Do a full health and fitness MOT on the Friday, go mental for a couple of days and do it again on the Monday and it’ll be marginally worse at most, I’m sure.

Healthy is usually something that’s affect ‘chronically’ rather than ‘acutely.

Longer term changes.

The great news with that is, as the blog title suggests, we can ALWAYS eat healthily.

Just by making the average of our choices such that our health is maintained or improved (depending on where it is to start with).

If thinking of individual meals or days as healthy or unhealthy has worked for you, then crack on.

If it’s meant the average has adversely affected your health, then maybe worth questioning.

If it leads to ‘writing off’ the rest of the meal / day / weekend / week / month / year………..

It’s, perhaps, not the best mindset for you.

You can eat and drink ANYTHING and it be healthy…………

If the overall balance of the week doesn’t adversely affect your health.

If the ‘degree’ of some of those choices make such an average impossible…………

It’s worth questioning them.

But, never forget, you can ALWAYS eat healthily 🙂
