As you may know, every week we ask our members to set a RISE Plan for the coming week.

A specific intention of what we will do that week that takes into account what we have on.

Something that is worthwhile……..

But definitely doable.

After all, the knowingly sub-optimal plan that we do will always beat the theoretically better plan we feel we’ve failed at two days in.

Out of all the things we’re taught in school, setting effective plans isn’t one of them.

It’s fairly normal that people’s first few goes at setting a Plan will be somewhat vague.

It might be a result they desire, with no process.

It might be a process, but a pretty vague one.

“Lose 2lbs”

“Eat better”

“Snack less”

“Get in for some workouts”

“Get more sleep”

“Drink more water”

“Drink less alcohol”

“Be less bothered what people think of me”

“Be more confident”

And so on.

All good in theory.

But in practice, unlikely to happen.

When it’s a result, we’re just, kinda, hoping that we’ll do the things that need to be done.

And we kinda have to fail at that “plan” every day to begin with.

Asking ourselves “Am I 2lbs lighter?”

And getting no after no.

Until we get a “Yes”.

Or, more likely, we get put off by that perceived failure.

Or, if a process is preceded by words like “more”, “less” and “better” we’re probably not going to put a particularly effective plan in place for it to happen.

And we’ll having nothing to measure it against.

Half a week in and we’ll not be overly sure if we have been “eating better” or “drinking more water”.

And we’ll be left with how we ‘feel’ it’s going.

And how we feel will probably tell us “not good”.

Whatever your intent, if I were to ask you “Half way through the XYZ, how will you know if you’re on track?”………

And your answer is someone in-between….

“Erm” and…….

“Well, I’d have been doing REPEAT VAGUE GOAL for HALF XYZ”……..

Then I’d put money on it not happening.

Stick a number on it……..

And set a plan to make that number happen……..

And it becomes way more likely!

Much love,

Jon ‘kWayw kJosew’ Hall

P.S. Fed up of just renting access to some equipment to do your own workouts on? Or turning up once a week to be weighed? Want a programme that people actually enjoy doing and gets great results? It’s here –> www.myrise.co.uk/apply
