While we’re on the subjects of stories people tell themselves that hold them back, here’s another.

We put a lot of our success stories (and there are a lot) on BookFace.

We’ve had people losing tonnes of weight very fast.

And we get occasional comments along the lines of ‘I’d rather lose the weight more slowly. I don’t want to do anything too extreme”.

Now we fully understand that any changes should be maintainable.

So you only want to lose weight by doing things you can keep doing permanently.

Not mega quickly to start with something you’ll stop doing (extreme diet, shakes, magic space dust, etc) and then regain the weight and more.

But if it’s maintainable, like what we do?

Then go for it!

And it’s often interesting to see what people think of as extreme.

Especially compared to what they’ve done already.

Several times we’ve had people who are seriously overweight describe what we recommend as extreme.

How can eating a balanced diet of natural foods, hydrating, sleeping well and regular exercise be more ‘extreme’ then gaining several stones of body fat?

You could argue that eating processed food, an unbalanced diet, dehydrating yourself, sleeping badly and not exercising is the ‘extreme’ option.

Just a bit of (natural) food for thought.
