Dateline: 11th April 2009
Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan glance up for their judges’ desk for their view of a somewhat bedraggled looking, slightly eccentric middle aged woman who’s just scuttled on stage.
Ant and Dec are giggling in the wings – presumably awaiting the car crash TV that most of the nation are expecting.
In 5 seconds, with the opening lines to ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ from Les Miserables, Susan Boyle causes jaws to drop throughout the arena and across the world.
5 years later she has sold over 20 million albums worldwide and has estimated worth of a similar amount.
Never too late you might say.
Same applies to us all.
Just because something’s always been a certain way doesn’t mean it has to continue that way.
Just because SuBo had primarily sung for her West Lothian church choir and had several unsuccessful attempts to take her talent further, didn’t mean she couldn’t become a star.
Just because someone has always been fat, doesn’t mean they always have to be.
Just because someone hasn’t enjoyed exercise before, doesn’t mean there isn’t a form of exercise out there that they can enjoy.
Just because someone hasn’t enjoyed healthy eating before, doesn’t mean their isn’t an approach they can’t enjoy.
Just because someone has failed in previous attempts to get in shape, doesn’t mean there isn’t a way they can succeed.
Just because someone has never enjoyed their work, doesn’t mean they can’t change what they do to something they do like.
Just because someone has been unhappy for years, doesn’t mean it isn’t in them to be happy.
You get the message.
As it says on the T-Shirts we had done last year, “Its never too late to become what you might have been”.
If there’s something you want, it’s not too late.
Go out at get it, Boyle-stylee!
Much love,
