If you haven’t done the maths before, it’s pretty easy to work out that conventional gym memberships are based on non-usage.

Local Globo-Gym has 3,500 members.

If they all went 3 times a week, that’s 10,500 members visits.

Most gyms open for about 100 hours per week.

Meaning they’d need to be able to take 100 people every hour.

Probably more like two or three hundred at peak hours and less at other times.

They can’t and don’t.

It’s physically impossible to get much more than 50 people at a time inside most gyms and them have a piece of equipment and / or some floor space each.

Only about 20% of gym members go regularly.

If they restricted membership to how many people they could properly support, they’d have to charge five times as much.

Our usage is considerably higher.

And our coaching and support is infinitely better.

Our results speak for themselves.

But………..

Better stuff costs more.

And people sometimes leave because they don’t feel they can justify the investment.

And usually go and join a big gym to “save some money”.

I’d be lying if I claimed otherwise (just like other independent facilities lie when they tell you “no one ever leaves here”).

I get it.

I know we have finite budgets no matter what our earnings.

So I get that, sometimes, we might need to cut some outgoings.

But…………….

It’s fairly common that I continue to be Facebook friends with people after they’ve left.

And it’s fairly common that I continue to see them posting about stuff they’re spending their money on that costs considerably more than our programme.

And it’s fairly common that I’ll see posts where they’ll talk about how they’ve gained weight, how run down they are, how low in energy they feel and / or how their mental health isn’t where they’d like it to be.

And, again, I get it.

But I’d be lying if I said it didn’t make me feel a bit sad.

The other option they’ve gone for is, maybe, a pound odd less per day than our programme.

So, to some degree they’re paying themselves a pound odd per day to feel worse.

And spending that money on something that is either not helping or making them feel even worse still (longer term).

I’d never dream to tell someone how they should spend their hard earned money (or time or any other resource).

Their business, not mine.

But, to some degree, I feel that I’ve failed them.

That I / we couldn’t get them to continue to invest that bit extra in themselves.

And get the benefits to their energy, mood, physique and health that more than justified it.

I get it……..

But it still makes me sad.

If you’re a member and considering doing something else that’ll save you a pound odd a day, but that hasn’t got you results in the past, could I question if it’s worth it?

If you’re not a member and are tired of giving your money to people who are only renting you access to exercise equipment and you only hear from when you cancel your Direct Debit…………

Then why not try somewhere that has a great track record of actually getting results that more than justify the investment! —> www.myrise.co.uk/apply
