I reckon that anyone who ever watched ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel Air’ remembers the theme tune.

 

“Now this is a story all about how…….

 

My life got flipped – turned upside down”

 

“I got in one little fight and my mom got scared….

 

She said “You’re movin’ with your Auntie and Uncle in Bel Air

 

Always seemed a bit of an overreaction from Will’s mom if I’m being honest.

 

Moving cities and all.

 

And, if I remember correctly, never seeing her son again.

 

Anyway, it happens to us all from time to time.

 

Our lives get flipped – turned upside down.

 

Stuff goes all ‘Pete Tong’.

 

When working with 200 members, not a day goes by when someone doesn’t tell me about something pretty shitty that’s happening in their lives.

 

And we completely get that these things can often seem to get in the way of the things people are wanting to do with us – transforming their lives and bodies, etc.

 

One of the biggest mental shifts people eventually take though…….

 

Is that these things that happen in their lives……….

 

Are usually reasons TO DO what they’ve set out to do with us.

 

Not reasons TO NOT DO them.

 

Because, when we take car of our bodies……..

 

When we feed them well……..

 

Improve their physical capabilities, energy levels, etc………

 

Aid their sleep and recovery……….

 

All that other ‘shit’ in our lives becomes easier to handle.

 

Not ‘easy”, sure.

 

But when we are at our best we can handle everything that little bit better.

 

When we are the best version of ourselves, everything around us benefits.

 

When we realise that the things that might be giving us some short term relief…….

 

The alcohol, the chocolate coated sugar bars, etc…….

 

Are actually making everything harder the rest of the time………

 

These things begin to lose their appeal.

 

And when accept that there is no “wagon”……..

 

That sometimes we genuinely can’t get a workout in or eat as well as we’d like……..

 

But that doesn’t need to affect the next time we can……..

 

That’s when the changes we desire come with time.
