Sometimes, if I’ve ended up in the left lane, I’ll do a bit of a sneak.

Keep in that lane to the roundabout, turn left onto Churchill way then right by Sue Ryder.

Then right again and down Whalley Range to come out on Cumberland Street by John Honey physio.

It’s rather narrow on Whalley Range.

Pretty tight anyway, but some of the cars parked don’t leave you much room to squeeze past.

It’s slow down there, but overall, when I’m in a rush, it’s quicker then queuing all the way up Hibel Road and down Cumberland Street.

The other day the last car was parked just a bit further down than usual.

Where it gets really narrow.

I couldn’t get through.

I got out and had a look.

The gap was definitely narrower than the car.

No other option.

I had to reverse.

Now I’m pretty good at reversing.

I like to think.

Although I’m sure most people think the same.

But reversing down somewhere barely wider than the car while the warning beeps go off constantly?

Tricky that.

I’ll never us that shortcut again.

Just not worth it.

The benefit is fairly minimal.

Like a lot of shortcuts.

Healthy food choices don’t have to take ages.

We’re not talking cooking a three course meal from scratch with organic ingredients.

Unless you want to, of course.

But we know they often take a little more effort.

Popping to a slightly further away shop.

Planning ahead a little and having things ready.

Sorting something the night before or before you go to work so it’s ready when you get in.

A little more effort potentially.

But not much.

The shortcut has fairly little benefit.

But often not enough to make it worth it!

Much love,

Jon ‘Of fortune’ Hall and Matt ‘Beep’ Nicholson

P.S. As always, it’s myrise.co.uk/briefing-meeting for the next step if you’re wanting to reverse the slipping back of the last few years or decades 🙂
