In case you’d missed it, we recommend tracking our food as an invaluable first step to making some changes to how we eat.

Not forever – a handful of days is usually enough to give us some insight into what sort of portion size works for someone of our size and activity levels.

And to become aware of some “tactical swaps” we can make.

Other food choices that we’re just as happy with that work better for achieving our goals, for whatever reason.

People are sometimes reluctant to do this tracking.

Which we get.

It’s a bit of a ‘pain in the @rse’.

Only a bit though.

Less than we’re telling ourselves.

A minute or two a few times a day for a few days.

Less effort than a single workout.

And waaaaaayyyyyyyy more benefit.

A massively higher return on investment for our effort than exercise ever will be.

But, yeah, it’s a bit of a faff.

People sometimes report that they gave it a go.

And they managed to track some stuff.

The relatively easy bits that, maybe, had a label or barcode.

Or were already entered on the system.

But they had a home cooked recipe or ate out and “didn’t have a clue what to enter”.

Which again, I get.

I might ask them for a ball park figure as to how many calories they might be in there.

And they often “haven’t got the slightest clue”.

Which, as the blog title suggests, is probably where the problem lies.

If we’ve no idea if what we’re eating has 300 or 1,300 calories in it…………….

Then, how can we hope to average that out elsewhere.

If we’d spent some money one night, but had no idea how much……….

We might cut back elsewhere a bit…………

But we’re unlikely to come “in budget”.

We get it’s that “bit of a faff”.

That “pain in the @rse”.

But, again, probably less effort than we tell ourselves (and, amongst other things, we’ll teach you how to do it –> www.myrise.co.uk/apply) .

How long, really, would it take to input all the ingredients for that home cooked recipe?

It’s not an hour, is it?

5 minutes?

It’s in there forever then.

Give you a great idea of the portion size that works for you.

Information you’ll then have forever.

A million times the benefit of 5 minutes of exercise.

And you didn’t have to go anywhere or get sweaty.

If we’re eating out, there’s probably someone we could ask that would give us a rough idea, at least.

And, do you know what the biggest advantage of going through this relatively minor “pain in the @rse” is?

We can make choices going forward that we enjoy………..

And that we don’t regret.

Know approximately how many calories are in your restaurant meal?

Cool – just enjoy it and average out elsewhere.

Know what size portion of that thing you’ve cooked will give you the energy you need (and not too much)?

Amazing – have that and get the most from it.

Tracking – the highest ROI “faff” that you can do!

Much love,
