When a new member starts with us I have a little thing that I always tell them at the end of that call.

It’s probably pretty much word for word the same;

“Great to have you on board. I look forward to helping you achieve some amazing results. And, from my experience, the biggest difference maker between those that do achieve amazing life-changing results and those that…… don’t…….. is two things.

Firstly, what we’ve got there to start with it is just a 4-week programme. I find if people come in thinking it’s a short-term, quick fix, it generally doesn’t work out all that great. If they’re hopeful that, maybe, this is the first step in a more lasting change, but with no commitment to do that, it always works out much better.

But, more than anything, I find the biggest difference maker is just a willingness to stay engaged.

So, at any point, if you’re not 100% sure what to do or you think you’re doing what we recommend but it doesn’t seem to be working or you’re just….. struggling…… I get that. That’s very much what we help with.

If people reply to my messages, or send me a message or ask in a Session then maybe sometimes it’s still a little bit two steps forward, one step back. But that’s okay, that’s still forward progress over time. I find when people go all ‘head in the sand’ and ‘non-responsive’, that’s when it invariably falls apart”

What I’m trying to get from them at that point is a commitment to staying engaged.

And that commitment invariably is given.

But it doesn’t always then happen.

And I think part of that reason is we switch in our mind what “engagement” means.

In follow-up conversations with someone who, essentially, hasn’t been doing anything, they might express to me that “I haven’t had time to engage”.

“What do you mean by engage?” I would ask.

“You know, get in for three Sessions a week”

“That’s not engagement. That’s doing three Sessions a week. What we talked about was just not completely disengaging. Not going ‘head in the sand’ and doing nothing.

Engaging could just be replying to messages. Touching Base and setting a RISE Plan for the coming week. Just doing something that’s more than nothing. Maybe doing some Sessions but less than you’d like.”

Because, from my experience, that’s the key.

We can’t always do as much as we might ideally want to.

I get that.

I’m not naïve.

But we can always engage.

We can always do the things that take seconds or minutes.

Partly for the benefits that they bring.

And partly to stop us completely ‘stopping’.

And, therefore, needing to restart again.

We can slow down and speed up a circumstance dictates.

We can’t always do everything that we’d like.

But we can always stay engaged.

That’s just a choice.

Much love,

Jon ‘ment ring’ Hall

P.S. You’ve got two choices now. You can do nothing for the next month and have more to do “because it’s Christmas”. Or you can do what you can so you feel better immediately and don’t regret December (like most do every January) —> www.myrise.co.uk/apply
