Over years of trying to help people make plans and implement steps that will help them to get the results that they desire……….
I’ve noticed absolutely masses of resistance to that.
Which I get.
I feel the same resistance at times.
Because structure and planning can seem boring and restrictive.
It’s almost romantic to think that “I just like to go with the flow”.
And going with the flow is fine.
Unless the ‘stream’ is taking us somewhere we don’t want to go.
Tactical use of structure, planning and scheduling is not restrictive.
It’s freeing.
It frees up time, energy and focus.
We get done the things that need to just get done more quickly and with less effort.
We create more capacity for fun stuff and enjoyment.
If we feel our eating or any other aspects of our life (or just our life in general) is ‘disordered’……….
Then it’s worth remembering that the opposite of disorder is order.
Tactical use of structure, order and planning doesn’t restrict us.
