Whilst we’re in the process of defining words (yesterday with “momentum”), here’s another we might benefit from looking at.

“Strict”.

You know what I mean “I just need to be stricter with myself”.

Has connotations of being told what to do and restriction, doesn’t it?

“demanding that rules concerning behaviour are obeyed and observed”

Doesn’t sound much fun does it?

The thing is, we don’t really need to be “strict”.

We’ll all have things that we consistently do (or don’t do)……….

That we never consider we’re being strict with…….

That’s just the kinda person we see ourselves as.

I’ve never beat up an old lady in the street.

But I’ve never considered that “I need to be strict about not beating up old ladies in the street”.

It just ties in with how I see myself.

And if we can look at how we see ourselves and how our various choices tie into that, it becomes a much easier conversation in our heads.

If seeing ourselves as someone who “eats perfectly” and “loves training” doesn’t ring true (it doesn’t for me)………

Then could we consider someone who eats in a way that, on average, gives us a body we like the look and feel of and can do what we want it to do?

As someone who incorporates regular (but not daily) exercise because of how that benefits us and those in our lives?

Someone who’s protective of their mood and energy levels?

They don’t feel like things we need to be strict to!

Much love,

Jon ‘My kids reckon I’m strict because I don’t let them eat like pigs’ Hall

P.S. If you want this to just become part of your life, rather than that constant stop-start, cut things out, be strict, etc approach…….. You can get more info about how we’d help you with that (with a money back guarantee) at www.myrise.co.uk/apply or just get started at www.myrise.co.uk/join!
