I mentioned a couple of days ago that one of the considerations that goes through my head when trying to decide whether to renew my coaching program is the title to this blog.
I tell myself that “I know what to do, I just need to do it”.
An expression that I reckon that I’ve heard multiple thousands of times over the years from members.
So, I get it.
But, I also get that that’s worth questioning.
If the approach that we’re taking hasn’t happened before, then just trying harder probably isn’t the answer.
After all, we were trying before.
Tweaking the approach, with the help of a professional………
And then creating some accountability around it…….
Doesn’t mean that it’s 100% going to happen.
But, from my experience, it makes it much more likely.
And, secondly, us humans are very good at overestimating our knowledge of what ‘needs to be done’.
We might know ‘a way’.
But it’s not necessarily the only way.
And, based on the fact that we haven’t done it before, it’s probably not the best way for us.
It’s a pretty regular conversation when people tell me they know what they need to do……….
That I ask “What do you need to do?”……..
And they reply with something that they don’t actually need to do.
They might say that they need to “stop going out”.
Or “cut out carbs”.
Maybe “stop snacking”.
“Have a month off drinking”.
And I’m not saying that they aren’t potential approaches.
But none are “needed”.
I’ve helped countless people over the years get in better shape whilst still going out, eating carbs, snacking and drinking alcohol.
And the approach we use can vary over time.
As we and things in our life change.
If I still did everything in my business and personal life exactly the same as I did at the end of my first coaching programme……..
I can guarantee I wouldn’t have got the results I’ve had since.
Ultimately, telling ourselves “I know what to do, I just need to do it” will probably work as well as the last time that we said that.
If you’d like a better approach, that’s more likely to happen………
Then talk to me and we’ll figure that out together (by joining here —> www.myrise.co.uk/apply)
