In last Tuesday’s blog I talked about the sign advertising personal training that I see each week when I take my youngest to Tumble Tots.

As the blog was scheduled to come out, I wrote in the blog that I would be there as you were reading it.

I lied.

Plan Healthy Meals

Accidentally like.

It was clearly Easter Holidays last week.

No Tumble Tots.

I was actually in the Castle Museum in York with my wife and kids.

It’s brilliant BTW if you’re up that way.

Although we were confused as to why stuff from 1998 is in a museum – that’s only a couple of years ago, yeah?

Anyway, I’d clearly written and scheduled that blog in advance.

Put it to come out on a Tuesday as I thought I would be there then and didn’t fully think it through.

That blog was actually started months ago.

There’s normally 50+ blog ideas on my notes app at any one point.

And maybe a dozen or more ‘in progress’.

Sometimes you get a blog that’s been months in the making.

Sometimes I’ve done it that day, start to finish.

But they are always scheduled.

Always.

It’s no less effort to do it that way.

Fraction more if anything, I suppose, as there’s a few more buttons to press.

But the key is I can do them when it’s convenient.

So it gets done.

I had to get on a PC at 11 o clock every day to do it then and there?

It would happen some days.

But I would soon miss one, I’m sure.

Stuff comes up and one doesn’t happen.

One quickly becomes a few.

And, before I know it, I haven’t done one in months.

Rather than 1,200+ days in a row.

Plan Healthy Meals

It’s the same with healthy eating.

Wait until meal time and it’s nearly always easier to get something a bit crappy than it is something a bit more nutritious.

Especially when we’re busy and on the go.

One crappy meal quickly becomes a few and, before we know it, months have gone by.

And the needle on the scales (and possibly our energy levels, mood and how we feel) has gone the wrong way.

We plan healthy meals ahead a little?

It’s usually no more effort.

Prepping a few key meals on a Sunday night takes less time than five separate trips to the staff canteen, Starbucks, etc I’d have thought?

Certainly no more.

Probably cheaper too.

Planning ahead or not often makes the difference between achieving our goal or not.

In most aspects of life.

When we don’t plan ahead, we’re setting ourselves up to fail.

Much love,
